Fallen Cottonwood

Well, I managed to get one more study together for 07. I was drawn to this image because of the opportunity to play with the reflected light in the shadows. I believe my new years resolution will be to get serious about edges. I have had quite a bit of fun as of late playing with these small studio studies.

Very strong 3-D effect, created by both construction and the strong shading. I like this painting a lot.

Hi Les,
I haven´t been here for quite some time and I enjoyed looking at your new work. In this one your brushwork is getting more loose and your resolution about edges is going in the right direction.

And like our ol pal Richard S. points out: "Looseness is the way a painting appears not how it is achieved."

Have a great painting year!
Cheers..Nue

Thanks Stefan. What I wouldn't give to go spend some time with Richard. Edges have been my achilles heel.
